Technology and Familes

Americans have been known to always be on the go! Achieving success in the real world and living out the American Dream is the norm for many of us. Habits, religion, culture, and our enviorment, truly shape who we are as people. Yet there is also a huge missing peace to what makes us humans that co-exist and realtionships we hold with others. The word family may ring a bell to many ears. Mom, dad, siblings, and extended loved ones hold special places in our hearts. However, in the 21 century technology has seem to creep its way into households like in-laws, it just appeared and you have to basically learn to deal with it. Suprisingly many of us like technology. Its convenient, fun, and becoming necessary if you havent realized it yet. No longer are familes sitting down to eat dinner together and discuss whats going on in eachothers lives. More then likley moms on the web shopping for new shoes, dads checking his stock from an iphone, little Jimmy is playing madden 09 ps3 online with people from across the world, and sarah is on her blog gossiping about the Jonas Brothers new cd! So is this what a family should be doing? Is this even a family? Or has technology become a member of the family..... I mean lets think about this.......Who actually cooks dinner? Mom or the slow cooker crock pot? Who finds alternate routes leading to the office at 8 am without hitting any traffic? Dad or tom tom the GPS system? We must face it! If you can check your MRI results from a cellphone then what really is the world coming to? Maybe the world is coming to a new beginning? Its wouldnt be bad to say so. Now new technology is fine and well for Americans but what about our loved one? Our foundation, who were here before we even knew what a blog was! I think family has truly fell between the cracks of trying to dvr Greys Antomy and chatting on Twitter. But what about in the 1950's, when family had much more meaning. Families discussed topics that took place in the community, the economy, and in eachothers life.
